blood culture media

Blood Culture Media or hemocultures are control systems for microbial contamination in the blood. They are used in hospitals for the detection of bacterial infections. The use of one or another type of medium depends on the kind of analysis to be performed. They basically consist of neutral glass flasks containing the culture medium, SPS, vacuum and a modified atmosphere.

There are different types of hemocultures depending on the composition of the media they contain and the presentations of the finished product. CONDA manufactures the following hemocultures:

Pediatric Hemocultures

Small flasks with 20 ml of medium, for the inoculation of 2 ml of blood. Boxes of 8 flasks.

APPLICATIONS
For the detection of aerobic microorganisms: Brain Heart Infusion Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2
For the detection of anaerobic microorganisms: Schaedler Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2

Adult Hemocultures

50 ml and 100 ml flasks, for the inoculation of 5ml and 10 ml of blood respectively. Boxes of 10 flasks (50 ml) or 12 flasks (100 ml).

APPLICATIONS:
For the detection of aerobic microorganisms:
• Trypticasein Soy Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2
• Brain Heart Infusion Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2
For the detection of anaerobic microorganisms:
• Fluid Thioglycollate Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2
• Schaedler Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2
• Schaedler Broth reduced with vitamin K3, with vacuum, CO2 , N2 and H2
